2013-2014

This year middle school science launches into a study of our physical world and its laws! Carlisle Christian Academy's 6th, 7th and 8th graders are learning about chemistry, waves, forces and electricity. We love to get our hands dirty and minds engaged with experiments and experiences. Join us here on our blog to see what we are doing in class! You can contact Mrs. Tiday at ctiday@carlislechristian.org.

Science Lab Project due 9/27

Science Lab
Lap Book

Sample:

Due Date: ____9/27/13________
This is a quiz grade

Assignment: Present the material from the Volume, Mass and Density Lab that we completed in class.  This will be done on a folder provided by Mrs. Tiday (followed by a brief explanation in front of the class).  You may choose to design your folder in creative way or in a scientific manner.  Both should include the following:

  1. Define mass, volume and density.
  2.  List the mass, volume and density of these types of matter (silver, aluminum, rubber, copper, quartz, and water) from your lab paper you used in class.
  3.   Include the units used with each measurement.
  4.  Choose one additional type of matter* to measure and provide its mass, volume, and density (bonus if you can tell me its chemical formula).  I will have cylinders and a scale available for you during break and lunch.
  5. Choose 1 item that you have measured and state whether it will float in water.  Explain why or why not in complete sentences.
  6.  Label everything clearly and be sure any lines are straight.
  7. Give your folder a title.
  8. You may use a computer or do this by hand. No pencil please.
* This should be a single type of matter.  A pencil is not a single type of matter.  (It includes graphite, wood, etc.)
