2013-2014

This year middle school science launches into a study of our physical world and its laws! Carlisle Christian Academy's 6th, 7th and 8th graders are learning about chemistry, waves, forces and electricity. We love to get our hands dirty and minds engaged with experiments and experiences. Join us here on our blog to see what we are doing in class! You can contact Mrs. Tiday at ctiday@carlislechristian.org.

Backstage at the Oakes Museum!

Today the 6th through 8th graders got the first ever behind-the-scenes tour at Messiah College's Oakes Museum!  Our guides, Ms Helena and Ms Beth, took us from the lined paper dreams through the painted artists' renderings of this beautiful natural history museum in Grantham, PA.
Students divided into groups to study various drawings and plans, then they presented their findings.  This group is holding the original ideas sketched on a yellow legal pad.

When the plans became solid, the artists began to draw scale drawings of the display animals.

Beth and Helena showed the drawings and paint cards the artist used to create the scene with the muskox.

In the "prep room", CCA students got to see some of the specimens that are not open to the public.  Pictured here is part of the museum's egg collection.  Messiah College houses the largest Egg Collection in the USA.
