2013-2014

This year middle school science launches into a study of our physical world and its laws! Carlisle Christian Academy's 6th, 7th and 8th graders are learning about chemistry, waves, forces and electricity. We love to get our hands dirty and minds engaged with experiments and experiences. Join us here on our blog to see what we are doing in class! You can contact Mrs. Tiday at ctiday@carlislechristian.org.

Punnet Square Quiz study video

This video explains how to do a Punnett Square...

Know these terms:
Alleles are the letters that represent the traits that are present on our DNA.  We have been studying traits that have only 2 alleles, one from Mom and one from Dad.
Homozygous means that the person has the exact same alleles (letters are both capitals or both lowercase)
Heterozygous means that the person has one capital and one lowercase
The stronger allele is called Dominant.
The weaker allele is called Recessive.
If there are two dominants then they might be co-dominant and therefore they average their trait such as tall and short becoming average sized. (This is a bonus on the quiz)
