Our Class Pets 2012





Despereaux and Picasso are our science class pets.  They are guinea pigs that were born in July of 2012.  Here is how they fit into the classification system begun by Linnaeus:


Domain: Eukarya
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Rodentia*
Family: Caviidae
Genus: Cavia
Species:  porcellus

*this may change since they differ from Rodents in many ways.
